Capel Y Graig is excited to welcome Cecile Johnson Soliz to work as artist-in-residence from June 2nd – 27th.

Cecile has been working on a Major Creative Wales Award in Cardiff during the last year exploring relationships between photography, drawing, painting and sculpture.

We shall be opening up the Capel on Thursday evening, June 19th between 5-8pm and would like to invite you to join us.

We will also be welcoming visitors on request during the last two weeks in June. If you would like to visit, please get in touch and speak to Avi.

Mae Cecile wedi bod yn gweithio ar Wobr Creadigol Mawr Cymru yng Nghaerdydd dros y flwyddyn ddiwethaf yn archwilio’r berthynas rhwng ffotograffi, lluniadau, peintio a cherflunio.

About Avi Allen

Artist and Co Founder of Capel Y Graig Art Space. Avi took on Capel Y Graig and its attached Ty Capel in 2003 and spent the next 8 years, together with her Father Chris Allen, renovating and restoring the Capel. During this period and along side the restoration project, Avi undertook art training at the West Wales School of The Arts, Carmarthen graduating with a BA Hons Fine Art. Avi gained a PgCE qualification in 2010 and her teaching experience includes leading the Critical and Contextual Studies programme at The West Wales School of the Arts Foundation Course 2009-11 and on the BTEC Diploma Art and Design, Coleg Ceredigion 2011-13. Within her Art/Curatorial practice, Avi is interested in revealing and disrupting established systems of hierarchical classification and the power relations manifested within them.
